Artwork: Gillian White
|
Gillian White was born in Orpington, Kent, England, in 1939. She studied at St. Martin's School of Art in London from 1956 to 1960, and at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London from 1956 to 1960.
She worked in Paris in the studio of Françiose Stähli in 1960, where she met the Swiss sculptor Albert Siegenthaler, whom she married in 1962. Their two children were born in 1964 and 1966.

In 1967 the couple moved to Switzerland, where Gillian developed her career as a sculptor. She has received a number of prizes and honours since 1974. Gillian's husband passed away in 1984.
Gillian is still a very active artist, and is usually displaying her work in one exhibition or other. She prefers to use corten steel in her work.
Here are several links to websites with more information on Gillian White and her work. Because the artist works primarily in Switzerland, most of the websites are only in German.
